On May 25, 2020 the Brownwood/Brown County Health Department announced 172 negative test results, one positive, and one death. The National Guard tested a Brownwood nursing facility last week (not the nursing home with multiple cases) as part of the state-wide initiative to test all nursing home facilities. We will call this facility nursing home #2. We will call the nursing home with multiple COVID-19 cases nursing home #1.
Of the negative test results, 42 were from the drive through screening on May 16th, 129 were from nursing home #2, and one was a community member.
The new positive is an employee of nursing home #2 who has not traveled outside of the area. There were no nursing home residents or other employees who tested positive at nursing home #2.
The COVID-19 related death is a male in his 80’s who is a relative of an employee at nursing home #1 who had COVID-19.
The total COVID-19 cases in Brown County is now 57 and 9 deaths.

Brown County Health Department has set up two hotline numbers for questions about COVID-19. The numbers are 325.642.2635 or 325.430.5933. Calls are taken from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. A health department employee will answer questions and may perform a health screening over the phone. Should you need higher level of care, they will direct you. The purpose of phone screenings is to reduce the congestion in our medical facilities and allow social distancing. Please be patient if you are not directly connected, we will answer calls in the order they are received. If you are planning on going to a physician, please call before arrival.
