RECYCLING CENTER

Mission:
Our mission is to provide quality services to our customers in the reuse, reduction, and recycling of materials and to prolong the life of the landfill as well as be environmentally friendly.Responsibilities:
- Accept recyclables from citizens in the local and surrounding communities and coordinate the removal of recyclables with commodity vendors.
- Accept residential waste for disposal thus lowering the traffic volume in the landfill.
- Provide mulch and compost products that can be purchased by our customers.
Goal:
- To provide recycling services to all of Brown County and surrounding counties.
Objectives:
- To provide a clean, safe drop-off center for residential trash and recyclables.
- To provide employees with up-to-date training so they can provide customers with the best service possible.
Residential Disposal:
The residential discount rate is $5.00 per pickup or single-axle trailer. To receive this rate customer must present a City of Brownwood water bill (within the last 6 months) and a matching driver's license.Mulch

- $3 per cu\yd for City of Brownwood Residents with water bill and matching driver's license.
- $5 per cu\yd for all citizens outside the Brownwood city limits.
Delivery Fee:
- $75 per load for City of Brownwood residents with water bill and matching driver's license.
- $125 per load for any Brown County residents.
Compost
Now available while supplies last!
Picked up on-site:
- $7 per cu\yd for City of Brownwood residents with water bill and matching driver's license.
- $10 per cu\yd for citizens residing outside of Brownwood city limits.
Delivery by city staff:
- $75 per load for City of Brownwood residents with water bill and matching driver's license.
- $125 per load for any Brown County resident.
Brush Fee's:
City of Brownwood Residential Customers Only:
Free with a water bill and matching driver's license as long as load is covered with a tarp or a net.
All Commercial Customers will pay outside city limit rate.
Citizens outside of the Brownwood City limits:
$6.00 per Cubic Yard
All loads entering the facility must be covered with a tarp or a net or a $20 additional fee will be charged.
City of Brownwood customers:
- Must be residential (from your own house, no commercial)
- Latex Paint only with original, legible label accepted at Recycling Center. This paint is available for other residents to pick from and reuse until we process and dispose of it.
- Another option is to dry the paint out at home and once it is in a solid state it can be disposed of in the trash.
- 10 gallons or less per household.
- Oil based paint and stains need to be dried out and thrown away by the resident we are not allowed to have these at the facility. You may air dry, use kitty litter, or mix with dirt for example for this.
- All spray paints due to small quantity of paint should be considered household waste and disposed of by residents.
- No hazardous chemicals will be accepted like paint stripper, mineral spirits, muriatic acid, etc.
