National Night Out
WHAT IS NATIONAL NIGHT OUT?
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances. We invite you to attend your neighborhood event, meet your neighbors and commit to working together to reduce crime in our community.
National Night Out is designed to:
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community relations in Brownwood
- Generate support and participation in crime prevention efforts
- Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
- Let criminals know that neighborhoods are organized and looking out for each other
During the event, residents in neighborhoods throughout Brownwood and across the nation are asked to turn on their porch lights, lock their doors and spend the evening outside with their neighbors, police officers, firefighters and other local emergency responders. Events such as cookouts, block parties and neighborhood walks will all occur simultaneously throughout the City, Brown County, and the State of Texas.
Local Partnership with Good Samaritan Ministries
Neighbors are encouraged to bring canned tuna to the party to be collected by the Brownwood Police Department for Good Samaritan Ministries. A travelling Tuna Trophy will go to the party gathering the most cans of tuna!
